Update!!

A quick note:
As many of you know, I had started a scrapbooking business with a friend of mine.  I am sad to announce, it was not meant to be.  Although we had the same dream, we had different visions, therefore Bella Vita Scrapbooking is no longer in business.

Not to fret, you will see more from us, just separately.  I am still eager to create and share the latest techniques and products and will work toward starting more classes in the future.  I do have a few projects I need to post, so stay tuned!!

As always, Happy Scrappin'

Major Announcement Coming Soon

A very few of you know what is to come.  Though I am not 100% ready to make the announcement, and it's not that I don't want to shout it from the roof tops, I do want to tell you to keep your eyes open for what is coming.  I have been very very busy the past three weeks working on this and it is going to be big to say the least.
I will tell you that is does have to do with scrapbooking AND it is my dream.

Please watch for the announcement next week.

Welcome Back

Hey Scrappers,

I seem to have fallen off the grid and had to take a detour for a while, but I'm back and better than ever!  The web store has had to be put on the back burner for a while due to unforeseen issues in our lives.  I will definitely keep you updated on what will happen with that.

I have a disabled step son, Matthew, that has had several hospital stays this year along with an extensive intestinal surgery, which took me to Pittsburgh, PA for a week.  He had a long recovery but I am happy to say that he is doing amazingly well.  His incision has healed well and he starts back to school on Monday.  It has been a long and stressful journey for us all to say the least.

On top of that, my daughter Caitlin, is a cheerleader for her school and is also on a competition squad.  That has taken alot of my time as well with games each week, sometimes two, and practice every day.  I have to say with all she has going on with both cheer squads, being on the year book committee, volunteering to teach two days a week for the mini cheerleaders and maintaining an average of above 90, she still finds time to help out with Matthew.  I have definitely been blessed.

I have a ton of projects going on right now...some are for Christmas gifts for my family and there will be others that you can get your hands on for gifts for your loved ones as well.
I have a lot going on, I just wanted to drop in to say hello again and let you know I'm back.

Keep an eye out for some awesomeness!!!

Spring Mix Album Class featuring Graphic 45 "Once Upon A Springtime"

Hey scrappers, it's been a little while but I have been very busy working on getting the website stuff done (still more to do) and this new class project completed. Now that it is finished, I can't wait to share all the cool techniques used to put together this fantabulous album.

This is the first album I have done for a class and I have to say it was definitely an experience. It is a mixed album with chipboard and acrylic using Graphic 45's "Once Upon a Springtime" line. It has beautiful earth tones of greens and orange, with tons of butterflies, flowers, and fairies. The photos (just a few) do not do this album justice.

The class is scheduled for April 30 @ 2 pm at The Scrap Room in Mt. Juliet. You will need to call them to reserve a spot. The class is scheduled from 2 to 6:30 just to allow enough time to finish the project due to drying times, we may finish earlier. The cost is $35.

Be sure to bring a basic class kit along with: craft/exacto knife, adhesive (wet, dry, 3-d, small and medium glue dots), paper piercer or small hole punch, pencil, heat tool, alcohol ink applicator, you will need bee scissors as well. You will also need a self healing matt.
These items are required to complete this project, I may be able to loan out a couple of the items but not for all. The more you bring to class and the less we have to share will help the class move along as scheduled.
There are a ton of techniques including 2 tags in this project, using alcohol inks, stickles, shimmer mists, distress inks, and acrylic paint. You really don't want to miss this one.

Be sure to bring pics, the sizes are as follows:
Pic #1 - 2" (H) X 3 3/4" (W)
Pic # 2 - 2 3/4" (H) X 3 1/4" (W)
Pic # 3 - 2 3/4" (H) X 2 3/4" (W)
Pic # 4 - 3 3/4" (H) X 3 3/4" (W)
Pic # 5 - this one has a window with size of 3 1/2" (H) X 2 1/2" (W)
Pic # 6 - 3" (H) X 4 1/4" (W)
Pic # 7 - 2 1/2" (H) X 2 3/4" (W)

Hope to see you in class...

New Web Store

As many of you already know, I am opening a scrapbooking web store with my partner Jamie. We are very excited to announce "We are almost there". We have been working our fingers to the bone with designing pages, writing policies, and trying to figure it all out. I think opening a store front would be easier, but that isn't what I want to do. :)

Our "Grand Opening" (of sorts) will be this Saturday at the mile long in Watertown TN. We will be located on Depot Street (the street that runs from the square to Hwy 70 by Jim's Antiques and Wilson Bank And Trust). We will be right behind the train station about 3 booths back. You won't be able to miss us though. We will all be in lime green shirts with Happy Scrapper in hot pink across the front. We will be loud and colorful.

We will be selling our first kits, all filled with embellishments. We will have various other embellishments you can get to go with your kit or other pages/projects you may have in mind. We will also have some instructional sessions to show how we created some of the techniques you will see in our sample pages (used from the same line on sale), and other techniques you may see from our other examples that will be on display. You can also enter our "Grand Opening" contest for a weekend in Gatlinburg, which is an 8 week long raffle with a live drawing to be held May, 20 at Bull n Whistle at 7 pm. You don't have to be present to win...the winner will be notified by phone or email if they are not present and will be announced on our website, blog, and facebook. If you can't make it to the Mile Long Saturday, you can still get tickets by stopping by Bailey's Sweet Shop and Aaron's in Lebanon. Official rules are also posted at these locations.

For those of you who aren't crafty or just don't have time and would like a Happy Canvas either for yourself or a gift, we will be taking orders Saturday. All you have to do is provide the photo(s), choose a design and color scheme. Then just sit back and let us do our creative magic. They are great for your home or office and also make great gifts. I have given several of these out as gifts for bridal showers, birthdays, and Christmas. We have not had a disappointed customer at this point.

I just can't wait for Saturday, we have worked ourselves half to death, but still can't wait to introduce this to the public. Wish us luck and we hope to see you Saturday.

12 X 12 Canvas Class

Hey Crafters,
I've been absent for a little while with some life changes, even had to move, but I'm back and my creative juices are flowing.
I love creating scrapbook pages on canvas. It's my favorite gift to give. It's great for bridal showers, birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, or any occasion you can think of. You can personalize them according to who will receive the gift. It's also a great way to showcase your favorite memories or photos in your home. You can create it to fit any decor in your home.

I will be teaching some great techniques that are awesome for canvas scrapping. The image shown is the project that will be created. You can use the same paper as on this canvas or pick from a variety of styles and/or colors that are available at The Scrap Room where the class will be held.

You will need to bring your normal class tools and supplies, along with sandpaper and a soft or hard rubber brayer (the brayer is a must, I can supply sandpaper if you don't have any). All the paper, embellishments, etc will be provided at the class. Be sure to bring the perfect photo as you will not be able to attach it later. The project will be 100% complete when you leave.

You will also get to use the crop-a-dile big bite, the cricut, and the sizzix. If you haven't had the pleasure to use any of these tools, this class is the perfect opportunity. We will also be using Tim Holtz's grunge paper. If you have ever wondered what to do with this, well here is the perfect opportunity to learn a technique with my favorite paper.

The class is scheduled as a workshop due to the various techniques and tools involved, but you will walk away with an awesome addition to your home or gift for someone special.

Class Details:

  • 141 Adams Lane, Suite 21
  • Mt. Juliet, TN

Hope to see you there.

Jan 2011 Technique Class!

Welcome to 2011! Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas and New Year's. It's going to be an awesome year!!! I know I have a ton planned and can't wait until I can officially tell everyone about it. I am extremely excited.

January's class has been scheduled for 1/29 @ 1:00 pm. It's a cute layout using Jenni Bowlin's line. I started out creating this page for a class but it turned out I got lost in the project and it ended up I created it for myself. I usually focus completely on the techniques that I want to teach rather than the page itself.
Having said that, the layout may vary slightly during class, depending on the pic(s) you bring to class. If you want to use the film strip ribbon (Idea-ology), the small pics should be 1mm x 1 1/2 mm to fit in the small spaces. Also, the colors of the flowers can vary depending on your pics or your preference. My classes are focused on techniques rather than layout, so anything goes.
There are about 5 or 6 techniques on this page from shimmer mist and stickles to glossy accents and using sand paper, just to name a couple.

Come on out to The Scrap Room and bring a friend for an afternoon of scrappin. You can view the actual page by visiting The Scrap Room from now until class time.
